Three kinds

Industry solution, trade software or accounting?

  • Industry solution for electrical work

Knows the trade's terms: costing with Steiger, NPK or ELDAS, the Regie Rapport, measurement and the safety certificate. Built for electrical installers, often for planners and utilities too.

  • Construction and trade software

Built for several trades — order, time tracking, Rapport, quote, invoice. What only an electrical contractor needs, it covers or not, depending on the vendor.

  • Accounting

Keeps the accounts, VAT and payroll. It seldom replaces the other two; it is what they connect to.

Choosing well

Questions to ask every vendor

  1. 01Which costing data do you work with today — Steiger, NPK, ELDAS, VSAS, your own items? And does the software read exactly those?
  2. 02Where is the Rapport written: on paper, in an app, even without signal in a basement? And does the customer sign on site?
  3. 03Where does the software run — installed on your server, hosted, or in the browser? Who does updates and backups?
  4. 04Which accounting stays? Should the new software replace it or hand over to it?
  5. 05What does it cost for the whole team, office and electricians, a month — and what do apprentices cost?
  6. 06What comes across when you switch: items, customers, open quotes? And what stays in the old program?

Frequent questions

What electrical contractors ask about software

What software do electricians in Switzerland need?
It depends on the work. If you cost quotes with Steiger, NPK or ELDAS and write Rapporte and safety certificates, an electrical industry solution is closest to the trade. For time and Rapporte across several trades, trade software is often enough; for accounts, VAT and payroll you need accounting, built in or connected.
What is the difference between trade software and an industry solution for electricians?
Trade software is built for many trades: order, time tracking, Rapport, quote, invoice. An industry solution for electricians also knows the trade's costing data and certificates — which ones exactly is listed for each program on this page.
Is bexio enough for an electrical contractor?
According to its own website, bexio is business software for accounting, invoices, orders and payroll. Many electrical contractors combine it with electrical software that costs and records the work; elektro.box hands invoices over to bexio and reads the payment status back.
What does software for electricians cost?
According to the vendors' websites: noovi from CHF 19 per user, Werkli from CHF 50 and bexio from CHF 35 a month. Schoch, VOLTA, Abacus, Messerli and SORBA name no price on the pages read; elektro.box gives its amounts in a conversation.
